What truly captures the spirit of 19 Bar are its patrons and their stories. From the cherished memories made while playing darts, to the inclusive vibe echoed in reviews, the essence of 19 Bar is all about belonging. As one customer noted, it's a place where "leather mixed with lace," inviting misfits and allies alike to share in the joy of being themselves. And now with the new gender-neutral bathroom, everyone can feel at home without a second thought.
The bar exudes character — the floors might stick a little, and the lighting might fight for its life, but these quirks are what endear it to so many. The jukebox continues to spin tunes that resonate, completing the magical ambiance where laughter and camaraderie flourish. As Dante Infernoo beautifully described, it feels like a fairytale for all who seek a place of acceptance.
With friendly bartenders who are always ready to serve you with a smile and a hint of dry wit, the service here feels like family. Whether you are catching up with old friends or making new ones, at 19 Bar, every visit is an adventure waiting to unfold. It’s a beautiful testament to resilience, a space that didn't try to reinvent itself but simply returned to life, stronger than ever. Join us in celebrating everything that makes 19 Bar a cherished cornerstone of Minneapolis — a dive that feels like home, no matter who you are.
Ready to embrace the magic? Grab your friends, indulge in a slice of pizza, and let the vibrant atmosphere of 19 Bar remind you that community and connection are what truly matter.

“ Very grateful they reopened. Strong drinks, cheap prices, friendly bartenders. Music volume needs to go up up up. But otherwise glad to be back and playing darts with friends. ”
“ best queer bar in mpls in my opinion. trans friendly w a new gender neutral bathroom since it reopened! drinks are strong and music is usually good. great vibes. ”
“ LOVE seeing this gay watering-hole survive a fire & covid. Can't, keep, a good girl down. All jokes aside this is the best gay dive in the city. Cash is king, pool tables, and the best patio downtown ”
“ Friendly atmosphere, great bartenders. 'Glad 19 has reopened and that no one was injured during 2024 accident. A "family" atmosphere. ”
“ Once upon a time in a far-off land called Minneapolis, there existed a dive bar so unapologetically queer, so perfectly scrappy, it felt like a fairytale for the misfits. The kind of place where leather mixed with lace, where drag queens shared bar space with bikers, and nobody blinked twice at a tutu or a tie. That place was the 19 Bar. And then, one day... it vanished. Doors closed. Lights off. The spell broken. I was crushed. This wasn’t just any bar. It was the oldest queer bar in the state, and one of the first places I ever went before officially calling this city home. From the jump, it gave me something rare. A place where I could be fully myself, no matter what I was wearing or what version of me had just walked in the door. There was no costume too bold, no vibe too soft. Just belonging. Now that it’s reopened, I’m relieved to say the magic held. Nothing important has changed. The lighting still fights for its life, the floors still stick a little, and the jukebox still throws attitude. The staff? All heart. Same faces, same dry wit, same ability to make you feel both seen and slightly roasted. Okay, one change. The bathroom. It no longer feels like a test of survival. No more holding your breath or mentally preparing for battle. It’s not fancy, but it’s clean enough that you don’t leave with a story you’ll need to unpack in therapy. The 19 Bar didn’t try to reinvent itself. It simply came back to life. And in a world where everything seems to either close or sell out, that means everything. It’s still the same dive I fell for, just a little sturdier. A little brighter. And I’m so grateful it’s still ours. ”
“ I went out on a date there! Date was nice to if I could give him a review. Atmosphere was fantastic. I chilled out with a drink watching others enjoy a game of pool. Then went to the back patio and grabbed a table to drink and relax. It was my kind of place. I truly enjoyed it and will be back for more. The scene just fit me very well. ”
“ Small cash only queer dive. Servers a great and diverse community. Only food available are heggies frozen pizza (can't go wrong there). Drinks are cheap and generous. ”
“ You wouldn't give this place two cents from outside, but once you head in, it's super! Well curated, great lighting, two patios, cheap drinks. Just make sure to bring cash, the ATM on site charges a fortune in fees. ”
